Why connect Slack?
Some of the best product intelligence never makes it into a formal feedback tool. It lives in Slack, in customer feedback channels, support escalation threads, and sales deal discussions.
When you connect Slack, ProductBet monitors the channels you choose and captures product-relevant messages. Greetings, off-topic chat, and casual conversation are filtered out automatically.
What gets captured
ProductBet reads messages from your selected channels and extracts:
- Customer feedback relayed by team members
- Feature requests and product suggestions
- Bug reports and issue escalations
- Sales insights and deal feedback
Each relevant message becomes a signal with a link back to the original Slack message.
How to connect
Go to Settings > Integrations > Slack and click Connect with OAuth. You'll be redirected to Slack to authorize the ProductBet bot. After authorization, select which channels to monitor.
You can update your channel selection at any time from the Slack integration page.
Choosing the right channels
Be intentional about which channels you monitor. Good candidates include:
- #customer-feedback - direct customer voice
- #support-escalations - issues that bubble up from support
- #sales-feedback - insights from sales calls and deals
- #product-requests - feature requests from stakeholders
- #bugs - bug reports and issues
Avoid channels with heavy casual conversation (like #general or #random) unless they regularly contain product feedback.
How it works
Once connected, ProductBet listens for new messages in your selected channels. When a product-relevant message comes in, it's processed and turned into a signal.
Messages are processed individually, so each piece of feedback becomes its own signal. Thread replies are also captured if they contain relevant content.
Troubleshooting
- Not seeing signals? Check that you've selected at least one channel to monitor on the Slack integration page.
- Too many irrelevant signals? Remove channels that have a lot of off-topic conversation. ProductBet filters noise, but choosing focused channels gives better results.
- Bot not appearing? Make sure the ProductBet bot has been invited to the channels you want to monitor.
